Why write? Creating tips for your special child, brainstorming ideas and topics, clues to simplify and what kids really want.
Unit 2: Using photographs, again
Photos start the story, eight themes to use, linking text to pictures.
Unit 3: Writing with the child
Types of stories - special occasions, imaginary friends, therapy stories, action, funny sounds and 'wordy' gifts.
Unit 4: E-mail stories for extended families
Anecdotes for great memories, emails for keeping in touch and e-books to create a lasting record of families.
Unit 5: Storyboarding
How many pages? How to place illustrations, using double page spreads, what to put on the first page and avoiding the middle story slump.
Unit 6: Your family tree
Avoid boring lists, use photo collages, 'feely' books, maps and photos to make family trees come alive.
Unit 7: Structuring your story, so they won't snore
Hooks and twists, problems, people, conflict and how to place them all.
Unit 8: Audio stories
They make memorable international gifts and are terrific for car trips. Plus they are so much fun to create with your special child!
